Sennheiser just dropped a new set of TV headphones that are basically a cheat code for your living room, and they’re packing some seriously cool tech. The RS 275 TV Headphones bundle, which includes a BTA1 digital receiver, is all about that Auracast life.If you missed the memo, Auracast is like broadcast Bluetooth—think of it as creating your own personal audio hotspot that anyone with compatible gear can tap into, whether it’s hearing aids, other headphones, or speakers, all with a claimed range of up to 50 meters and low enough latency that you won’t notice the audio lagging behind the on-screen explosions. It’s the same tech that blew up at CES 2024, and now it’s landing in a consumer-friendly package.Sennheiser promises a marathon 50 hours of battery life on a single charge, and you can juice them up right from the receiver’s USB-C port, which is a nice touch for avoiding cable clutter. They’ve also built these cans for the long haul, with user-replaceable ear cushions and batteries, so you’re not tossing them when the pads wear out.The companion Smart Control Plus App lets you tweak everything from transparency mode and left-right balance to setting up custom hearing profiles, and it even has a ‘find my headphones’ feature for when you inevitably lose them under the couch. The whole bundle will set you back $300, with the BTA1 receiver available separately for $130 if you want to upgrade your existing setup.Pre-orders kick off on February 3, with shipping starting on the 17th. For anyone who’s been stuck sharing a single audio source or dealing with messy Bluetooth pairing, this feels like a solid step toward a cleaner, more shareable audio future.
